Fall 2007 O30

The season will begin on August 26 with a game against "America" at 9 am at West Orange Park. GAME 1: On August 26, 2007, Alemannia II opened the 1A season against America. America was the expected strong opponent. Alemannia was quicker in midfield and created several ggod chances in the early stages of the game. In the 27th minute, Alemannia captain Christian Thier scored after the America goalie could only deflect his header. In the second half, Alemannia increased the pressure and Adrian Thier scored after a cross from the right with a shot into the left corner. In the 65th minute, Alemannia' s defender Tim Rupeiks fould an America striker inside the box and America scored on a penalty shot. Alemannia's keeper Jerry Schnelker almost had the ball though. In the 74th minute, Dan Vasquez hussled inside the box and scored for the 3:1. Watson Amgervil missed a penalty shot in the 80th minute and Alemannia won the game 3:1.  The goalkeeper Jerry Schnelker won the MVP award for the game. GAME 2: On September 9, Alemannia played CFFC at Lake Sylvan. Alemannia started nervously and could not duplicate the fluent midfield play of the first game. CFFC moved its defenders up and tightened the spaces in midfield. Alemannias midfield did not have room to operate and CCFC came to good chances after Alemannia lost the ball in transition. Alemannia´s defense had to work hard, and the keeper Jerry Schnelker made some excellent saves to keep the score 0:0 at halftime. Alemannia then decided to counter the CFFC strategy by moving two of its fastest players to the striker position. The goal was to make CFFC pay for having moved up its defense. In the 58th minute, Dan Vincent broke away on a deep pass, outsprinted everybody, played around the goalie and put the ball in for the 1:0. After this, CFFC increased the pressure and Alemannia had to work hard to keep the lead. But time and again, the fast strikers were able to create relief and came to good chances. In the end, Alemannia won 1:0. Dan Vincent won the MVP award, which is given weekly for the best player, including both Alemannia teams.GAME 3: Alemannia played Cool Runnings on September 16, 2007. Although Alemannia scored early on a goal by Adrian Thier, on an assist by Charles Octanel, the team could not maintain the lead. Cool Runnigs scored on a breal away in the 4oth minute. Altough Alemannia created chances over chances, the team could not convert. Alemannias strikers missed again and again. Finally, Cool Runnings scored after a nice run down the left side of the box. The goal keeper could only deflect the shot into the middle and the CR striker put the ball in for the win, 1:0.
