Fall 2007 Open Age

Alemannia Aixpress played the fall 2007 preseason with games against Cricketers Arms (7:1) and International Colors United (5:2).  The season will open on August 26, 2007 with a match against Deportivo Tricolor, at 11 am at West Orange Park. GAME 1: On August 26, 2007, Alemannia opened the second Premier League season against Deportivo Tricolores. Deportivo was a strong opponent, and the game was focused on he midfield. Both teams were unable to create many chances. Finally, in the 35th minute, after a physical play by a Deportivo striker, Alemannia's left back fell and the striker scored from 10 yards with a shot into the right corner. Alemannia continued to fail to generate much danger for the Deportivo goal. Too much was played through the middle. In the second hald, with 10 minutes remaining, Alemannia took out a defender and brought an additional striker, in order to save a point. However, Deportivo scored its second goal in the 87th minute and the game ended 0:2.  GAME 2: On September 9, Alemannia played FC Rogue. Alemannia got off to a fast start and scored on a break away by Brandon Cron and a free kick by Rafael Ferreira to lead 2:0 after ten minutes. In the 28th minute, Rafael Ferreira missed a penalty shot after a very rough foul committed on Brandon Cron. Only minutes after the missed penalty shot, FC Rogue scored on a counter attack with a beautiful shot into the far corner, from half left position. After a few minutes, Alemannia countered with a goal by Matt Fischer to make it 3:1 at halftime. In the second half, Thiago scored the 4:1 on a rebound, after Rafael Lopez had hit the left post from 20m out. Again, Rogue was able to score on a counter attack and scored fro the 4:2. In the 68th minute, TJ Hubbard hit the mark on a beautiful direct take off a cross from the right, for the 5:2. In the 78th minute, Rogue scored again, with a "hand of god" goal a la Maradona, which the ref missed to call. The final result was 5:3. GAME 3: On September 16, Alemannia faced Fiddlers FC at West Orange Park. The team got off to a strong start and scored quickly on a shot by Thiago, on an assist by Marcio Avila. In the 15th minute, Alemannia increased its lead to 2:0 on a break away. Fellipe took a precise pass by Rafael Ferreira, waited until the goal keeper committed to the right and then put the ball into the lower left corner. Just before halftime, Fiddlers scored for the 2:1. After the break,  Alemannia scored again by Brandon Cron on an assist by Matt Fischer. In the 78th minute, Alemannia put the dagger in with a goal by Rafael Ferreira, on an assist by TJ Hubbard. In the 85th minute, Fiddlers scored for the 4:2. This was the final result. Rafael Ferreira was named MVP of the game. GAME 4: The fourth game of the season was on Sept. 23 against Golden Knights. Alemannia played well, and put constant pressure on the Knights midfield. But again, Alemannia was unable to use one its many chances. In the 40th minute, the Knights converted on a counter attack. Alemannia continued to attempt to score. Many shots were missed by feet and inches only. In teh 80th minute, Alemannia missed a penalty shot. The game ended 1:0, a deserved win for a Golden Knights team with excellent scoring efficiency. If Alemannia cannot convert its chances better, there will be more painful losses like this one.
