Fall 2008 O30

GAME 1: Alemannia O30 started the Fall season 2008 on September 7, 2008 against Copacabana. As the name indicated, this is a predominantly Brasilian team with many players with excellent ball handling skills. AAIX came out of the gates firing and scored on a break away attack in the 14th minute. Dani Vasquez had played a deep pass to Adrian Thier and Adrian put the ball under the keeper into the far corner. Alemannia was the better team for the first 30 minutes, but then Copacabana gain more and more control of the midfield. They were able to score three goals in the last 10 minutes of the half. After the break, a refreshed Alemannia team again controlled the game and equalized on a shot from half left by Philip Prince in the 53rd minute and on a penalty score by Tito Diaz in the 70th minute. Adrian Thier had been fouled in the box. Unfortunately, Alemannia again ran out of steam in the last fifteen minutes and Copacabana scored two goals to put the game away 3:5. 

GAME 2: Alemannia faced Cosmos from Clermont in the second game on Sept. 14, 2008. Alemannia controlled the midfield and did not allow any chnaces for Cosmos during the first half. Adrian Thier scored in the 19th minute on a deep pass from Carlos Luna. After the break, Adrian was fouled in the penalty area in the 58th minute and Troy Chroniger scored the 2:0 on th ensuing penalty shot. Cosmos scored in the 80th after some confusion in the Alemannia defense for the 2:1. Alemannia defended the win for the last 10 minutes.

Over the remainder of the season, Alemannia had a few unlucky losses, and wound up in sixth place, after a wonderful 4:2 win in the second last game against St. Andrews XI. In the last game of the regular season, AAIX lost to Cool Runnings 2:1. 

In the ensuing League Cup tournamemt, AAIX played Cool Runnings again. The game ended 1:1 after overtime. In penalty shoot out, Cool Runnings prevailed.
